''LongWays Lab'' Laboratory

General Objectives – Traveling—even virtually—along the “Longobard Ways” Route allows students to perceive the physical continuity of the shared European space, linking their local reality to a transnational context. This easily accessible form of educational tourism thus becomes an incubator for intercultural dialogue, where classes can travel not merely to admire monuments, but to understand the historical dynamics of mobility, integration, and exchange that have shaped our continent’s identity. It also creates opportunities to gain deeper insight into both Longobard Culture—as a “primary root of European Culture, later developed by the Carolingians”—and the various territories traversed by the route. Furthermore, it facilitates meetings between student groups from different European regions and countries, fostering an exchange of knowledge and experiences among young “citizens of Europe.”

Schools Area – The primary objective of the “LongWays Lab” is to establish the website as a central hub connecting the world of education (by enhancing its pedagogical and experiential aspects) with the primary sources of authentic “European Culture”—such as museums, the network’s historical archives, and sites or assets that preserve or represent the historical and artistic heritage of the Longobard people. A further aim is to encourage young people to express their imagination and artistic creativity by crafting stories, creating mini-photography campaigns, or producing various graphic works inspired by key chapters of European history—chapters that, until recently, had been “forgotten” or overlooked. Finally, the foundations laid for relationships with schools and young people offer valuable opportunities to organize gatherings and establish project-based partnerships.
