Villa Stanga, Borromeo Arese - complex

Dominating the Lambro valley from the village of Costa Lambro, with its hornbeam woods and a beautiful garden overlooking the Pre-Alps in the far background, Villa Stanga belonged to the Calderera family in the 18th century. The villa, as we know it today, is the result of a series of changes carried out by the Marquis Ferdinando Stanga Trecchi in the second half of the 19th century, which gave the building that certainly existed at the beginning of the century the present neo-rococo appearance. A quadrangular service building with a porticoed courtyard is connected to the main rectangular building. An elegant Italian style garden, one of the most interesting in the area, stretches out northward and is surrounded by hornbeam woods and is enclosed by a fine wrought-iron railing. The inside of the villa was recently divided into apartments without, however, spoiling the external architectural appearance.
