Annone Lake (Oggiono)

Features

The lake stretches across the north of Brianza and it is divided by two peninsulas (Isella and Annone) that turn the lake into two basins. The vastest part – eastward – is also called Oggiono Lake. The lake is a tributary to the Adda River via the Torto stream. The view of the residential area of Civate, the Cornizzolo Mount and other mountains in Eastern Upper Brianza is gorgeous.

The flora and vegetation of Annone Lake are typical of lacustrine and paludal environments of the morainic piedmont areas. A botanical project found 7 species thought to be absent from the Lombardy's territory and about 70 rare species here for the first time. The particular damp microclimate of the immediate areas surrounding the lake allows the presence of some plants that are usually typical of higher altitudinal zonations. Around the water and among the canes live many animal species, notably among the rushes by Annone Lake a great variety of insects, some of which are also rare, have been found.
