The Gualtieri Tower

The so-called "Tower House" of the Gualtieri's family dates back to the second half of the 13th century. The name comes from its particular structure that can still be seen today: indeed, it is a single structure in which the tower is the same height as the rest of the construction. Such a structure is the result of the repeated works on the complex throughout the centuries and in particular in the 18th century when new openings were created to let the light in.

The papers ("Cronache") by the historian Bonincontro Morigia from Monza report that in the 14th century the building belonged to the Gualtieri, a noble family from Monza that sided up with the Guelphs.

As to the material used in the construction, it is interesting to learn that the base of the Gualtieri Tower was covered with stone material similar to that of the Arengario. è
