AGLIATE – The caves of Realdino

From the park behind the Basilica of S.S. Pietro e Paolo it is possible to walk as far as the locality of Realdino, founded along the river and surrounding many windmills that have existed since the Middle Ages. Beside being evocative, the place is particularly pleasant in summer thanks to the constant dripping of fresh water from the overlooking hill. At the beginning of the 19th century the caves were often visited to escape the heat. The local taverns and inns also served fresh local wines.
